Your keyboard and mouse are the tools you touch most during the day. A few simple changes can help your wrists and shoulders feel more relaxed. 1. Keep your elbows close to your body Your elbows should stay near your sides, bent at about 90 to 110 degrees. If you have to reach forward, your keyboard is too far away. 2. Bring the keyboard close Place your keyboard right in front of you, near the edge of the desk. You should be able to type without stretching your arms. 3. Keep your wrists straight Your wrists should stay in line with your forearms, not bent up, down or to the side. If your keyboard has little feet at the back, try folding them down. 4. Put the mouse right next to the keyboard Keep your mouse at the same height as your keyboard and as close to it as possible. You shouldn't have to reach out to the side to use it. 5. Relax your shoulders Your shoulders should stay low and relaxed, not lifted toward your ears. If they rise when you type, your desk or keyboard may be too high: raise your seat or lower the keyboard. 6. Take short breaks Every 30 to 60 minutes, let go of the mouse, shake out your hands and roll your shoulders gently. Want the full setup in 30 minutes?
